Attempts on Her Life
by Martin Crimp
August 8 - September 1, 2002, extended to September 14
312 Connecticut Theater, San Francisco

"Smart and lively production ... FoolsFURY makes the most of its considerable strengths in plumbing this rich material ... Consistently intelligent staging and playful yet intense performances ... Penetratingly sardonic humor."
San Francisco Bay Guardian (Critic's Choice)

"Coming at you like a blueprint for a character in a David Lynch film ... As relentless, engaging and totally barefoot a theatrical experience as I've had in a while... Incredibly stylized and eerily compelling."
Beth Lisick (SFGate.com)

"Detailed, imaginative direction ... and a great foolsFURY ensemble ... made a success of British playwright Martin Crimp's weird, postmodern Attempts on Her Life ... so impeccably staged that I was fascinated."
Backstage.com

"Sharp and brilliantly staged ... Thought-provoking and deeply satisfying, this is one show you're sure to keep thinking about long after the curtain closes."
—Anna Mantzaris (SFGate.com ePick)

The West Coast Premier of Attempts on Her Life is a landmark piece in avant-garde theater for the new century. Written by renowned British playwright Martin Crimp, Attempts on Her Life turns our definition of “play” on its head, presenting a series of darkly comic, irony-laden scenarios in which the identity of a mysterious woman, Annie (or Anya, or Anne), is repeatedly imagined, discussed, dissected, and possibly dismissed. Attempts on Her Life is theater for those who think theater has no new ground to break – inviting the audience to engage as post-modern detectives, yet keeping them laughing, and cringing at their laughter, throughout.
