Incubator
The Phoenix Theatre
414 Mason Street, Suite 601, San Francisco
FoolsFURY deepens its dedication to developing both new
plays and new physical approaches to text both new and old, with INCUBATOR,
a reading series of works in progress. These performances allow the
audience to see three remarkable works in the developmental stages,
and to engage in a dialogue with the company about these works and foolsFURY's
process. In very different ways, each script offers brilliant language,
compelling plot, and fantastic physical possibilities.
The Castle
by Howard Barker
April 15, 16, at 8 pm
A soldier returns from the Crusades. Expecting his homecoming to be
ecstatic reunion, he discovers that his wife and the women left behind
are determined to deny his return. This battle of the sexes swells,
in the literal shadow of a massive arms race, manifested in the ever-growing
castle with which the soldier becomes obsessed. This sometimes brutal
play is one of the outstanding theatrical works of the 1980's, by the
author of The Possibilities, the first production by foolsFURY in 1998.

The Death of
Griffin Hunter
by Kirk Wood Bromley
May 13, 14 at 8 pm
In this brilliant tragedy by Kirk Wood Bromley, author of foolsFURY's
hit Midnight Brainwash Revival, Griffin Hunter, newly appointed UN Undersecretary
for Disarmament, arrives in San Francisco for a conference, and quickly
becomes entangled in the machinations of moguls, diplomats, and a gang
of college slacker-hackers - all of whom want to destroy his career,
his marriage, and his vision of a better world. This verse script reveals
once again Bromley's remarkable gift for language, combining 16th century
verse and 21st century sensibility, and his unique grasp on the pulse
of modern American culture.
Featuring - Stephen Jacob, Cully Fredrickson, David Mendelsohn*,
Jason Craig, Corie Henninger, Lisa Peers Lyleson, Mary Knoll*, Keith
Davis, Daniel Getzoff*, Karl Ramsey*, Woody Taft, Jacque Drew*
