CELESTE MUÑOZ-PEREZ
Celeste Muñoz Perez born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. She studied at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY, where she will received a Bachelor of Science in Dance Research with a concentration in Lighting Design and a minor in Computer Science in May 2019. Growing up she studied Baile Folklorico, where she was able to connect with her Mexican culture and discover a way to let her creativity flow through her body. She started training in ballet, salsa and tap at the age of 13, but shortly after had to stop her training. At Skidmore College, she discovered her interest in coding and rediscovered her passion for dance. During a dance production class, she uncovered a hidden interest in lighting design, where she uses her eye as a dancer and creativity of a designer to highlight and bring dance to life. She performs Baile Folklorico at festivals in Brooklyn, and in the Raices, a Latinx club, banquets at Skidmore. She has also performed in a modern dances at Skidmore College as well as designed the lights for the Senior Capstone. When Celeste isn’t dancing, she loves to write and perform spoken word pieces, as well as play with and take care of her adorable shih-tzu puppies.
