FoolsFURY has turned 21, buy us a couple of drinks!

We have a $12,500 matching grant. Help us raise $12,500 by the end of the year! (We’re at $4,500 now).

Your scrappy young rebel theater company (Most Promising Debut! Bay Guardian 1998) is heading into our third decade. In the last twenty years we’ve created some of the Bay Area’s best new theater, toured acclaimed shows nationally, created opportunities for over 100 high-level companies  and over 35 early-career interns at the FURY Factory Festival, and repeatedly challenged the idea of what live theater can and should be in the 21st century.

We are launching bold initiatives for greater justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion for our community, our company, and the field at large. We recognize our role as cultural provocateurs and we need your help to do it.

We have secured a matching grant of $12,500 and MUST raise a matching amount by December 31.  Will you join us in our first step in making more foolsFURY art, and provocation happen? Every dollar of the $12,500 will be doubled!

Check out this amazing 21st season we have in store for you:

Federico Edwards and Debórah Eliezer in Kate Tarker’s Dionysus Was Such A Nice Man

Dionysus Was Such a Nice Man. “Staggeringly Original!” (SF Chronicle) We opened with playwright Kate Tarker’s West Coast debut, a dark comic take on the Oedipus myth that examines the ways in which bad behavior, particularly by powerful men, is excused, concealed, and exalted.

(dis)Place[d]  - foolsFURY goes abroad! We tour Co-Artistic Director Debórah Eliezer's solo show about her father, Edward Ben-Eliezer, an Iraqi Jew born in 1930, a member of the Zionist underground, a refugee, an Israeli spy, and an immigrant to America. We just finished performing at the KO Festival in Amherst, MA, and the Teatron Alliance of Jewish Theater in Chicago. In December we will be performing in Birmingham, UK, at the 2019 Limmud Festival.

FURY FACTORY Festival - The FURY Factory Festival of Ensemble and Devised Theater returns July 7-19, 2020. Plan now for two whole weeks of the most adventurous theater,  workshops, and thought-provoking industry convenings!

We’re also incredibly excited to announce Calling Up Justice Executive Producer Claudia Alick as Guest Festival Director of the 2020 FURY Factory Festival!

Alick joins foolsFURY Co-Artistic Directors Ben Yalom and Debórah Eliezer in planning and programming the festival, with a focus on increasing and amplifying the voices of artists from underrepresented and marginalized communities.

Training
In June we hosted a sold-out weeklong workshop with the acclaimed SITI company’s Barney O’Hanlon in the Suzuki Method of Actor Training and the Viewpoints. We’ve launched our MOMENTUM training series and will have many other great opportunities to come.

We need your support to make all of this happen, to keep creating community, and top-notch art here in the most expensive place in the country.

We have $12,500 matching grant. Help us reach it!
