Do you believe in love after life?

Journey to the underworld, where all souls go after they die. Visit vast cities of the dead amidst the gigantic, tangled roots of trees, where over seventy billion souls scramble for space.

foolsFURY’s newest creation hits the Bay Area stage this October with the American premiere of The Unheard of World, newly translated from celebrated French playwright Fabrice Melquiot.

You’ll meet a magical little girl half-swallowed by a bear, a vacationing trio of raindrops, the first ever, and still oldest man, a little boy who refuses to ever be born, and a hopeful woman spending eternity pining to be a mother. Their paths are inextricably drawn together when the boy and girl are caught in a struggle over erasing him from existence, the woman steals an archetypal plaster cast to experience what it’s like to have a child, and the tenuous balance of life and death is upset, threatening not just the afterlife, but the living as well.

Fans of Neil Gaiman and Tim Burton will delight in Melquiot’s whimsical, magical imagery, at once beautiful and grotesque, joyful and melancholy, humorous yet sublime. This surreal tale is a macabre treat for adults and children alike.

This is foolsFURY’s second premiere of Melquiot’s work, following the production of The Devil on All Sides (Le Diable en Partage), which toured San Francisco and New York in 2007.
